My favorite bass clips

label title year format comments
Telarc Chiller 1989 PCM CD digital cat warning spooky music and "fun in the studio" intro with monster bass slams, heart beats, and wallops.
Telarc The Big Picture 1997 DTS CD movie themes and out of control "fun in the studio" segues, blast offs, bus rumblings, jungle sounds, tornados, flying cows. The surround effects are cool but the bass especially on the bus rumbling intro to Speed is awesome, with tactile transducers you think you really are on the bus!
Telarc 1812 overture 1979 PCM CD digital cannon warning, 105mm howitzer, just a couple blasts at the end howitzer thump is 11Hz is -6dB down from the 31Hz and 66Hz elements.
Telarc Wellingtons Victory 1983 PCM CD digital cannon and musket warning, lots and lots of bassy blasts, 25Hz - 63Hz 7Hz cannon thump, 23Hz cannon thump FFT, I believe the cannon waveform is synthetic since nothing in nature looks like this.
Psygnosis Wipeout XL 1996 PSX CD awesome Sony Playstation video game, techno songs from Prodigy, FSOL, Chemical Brothers, ..., check out the Wipeout XL play list / bass beats at the bottom of this page.
Columbia Professional, The aka Leon 1994 DVD The 5.1 AC3 has a strong 26Hz fundemental at several places through out the film (one spot is chapter 21). This thwump makes my whole room shudder. The DVD's 5.1 AC3 track blows away the older PCM LD. The bass is incredible on the DVD. Notice that on the left channel it alternates 26Hz, 50Hz, 26Hz while only the 26Hz signal is on the LFE.
Paramount Jurassic Park 1993 DTS LD I thought the original PCM LD at -7dB was terrifying. The DTS disk blows the original away.
FOX Apocalypse Now 1979 PCM LD Operation Arc Light. "concusion 'il suck the air right out of your damn lungs", I hear the AC3 LD blows the PCM one away.
Paramount Top Gun 1986 AC3 LD The bass on this disk is out of control, the LFE is pegged whenever the jets are flying. Bass of jets centered in 31Hz - 50Hz
New Line The Mask 1994 AC3 DVD The jaw dropping and the lever pulling in the printing press are nice. The effects aren't real low, but wider band bass from about 30 - 70Hz.
Disney Aladdin 1992 PCM LD Jafar has a deep bassy voice but the cave of wonders is even one octave lower! The cave is 31Hz - 50Hz bass.

Some other films that have some really great bottom octave bass:

Wipeout XL - PSX CD STAR

From the Wipeout XL Playstation video game soundtrack, this collection of techno beats is the best compilation of its type that I've ever heard. All the songs are different and each have some very unique bass beats and tones. This disc is one of my favorites for testing subs and tactile transducer configurations. The game is also excellent too, smooth 3D, fast, immersive 1st person point of view, and challenging. The only way to play it is with the NegCon analog controller. I've haven't been able to get past the second challenge. I can only get golds on the first 4 of the Phantom tracks. Phantom class makes Rapier look slow! The Phantom class is just way too fast, I wonder if this is humanly possible? Has anyone actually seen the fabled Piranha class?
